Easter at Disneyland and Disney World Resort

Easter is just around the corner and Disneyland has a special celebration waiting for you! Here's a list of a few things you can do at Disneyland to celebrate Easter this year!

1. You won't have to miss out on egg hunting this year! For a small fee of $4.95 you can purchase an egg hunting map at select stores inside of Epcot, Disneyland, and Disney California Adventure park! When you've found all of the giant eggs around the park, you mark the correct spot with a sticker and turn it in for a special prize egg! Sounds pretty egg-citing right!?

    

2. Snack on special Easter treats this season! Enjoy the egg-stravagant taste of bunny and egg shaped goodies you can't get year round.

      

3. Meet the Easter bunny at either Disneyland or Disney World resort! And don't forget to thank him for all the eggs he leaves you every year!

4. You can have an Easter dinner at any of your favorite Disney restaurants! Enjoy Easter dinner egg-stra special this year.

Neil Patrick Harris: Host of new "World of Color- Celebrate!" show

Hello Disney Freaks!

Exciting news is heading your way!

As you probably know by now, Disneyland resort will be celebrating Disneyland's 60th anniversary beginning May 22, 2015! For such a special occasion as this one, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will be changing some of their shows and decorations to make the celebration even more grand and memorable. One of these changes will be the "World of Color" water show! Now don't fret, World of color will stay...but the show itself will change. The new show will be called "World of Color- Celebrate!" and will be hosted by non other than Niel Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse himself!  Make sure that you make it to Disneyland this Summer to enjoy the brand spanking new water show spectacular. You will also be able to see the Castle sparkle like diamonds, view a new light the night parade, and fireworks spectacular! Don't miss out!

Beauty and the Beast: Live Action Film

Hello Disney Freaks!

I have exciting news! Disney is in the process of casting and creating a live-action "Beauty and the Beast" film that is to be shown in theater's sometime in 2017. The cast looks very promising, but is yet to be completed. Some of Hollywood's finest actors have been cast in the leading roles of the enchanting tale. Some of which are Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Josh Gad (Olaf) as Le Fou, and Kevin Kline as Maurice as well as Alan Menken, who wrote the music to Disney's original Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Hunchack of Notre Dame, will write the music for the film. I will do my best to keep you on the know about any updates on the making of the film. Until then, we can anticipate more magic to be exposed by the Disney film team. After all if it's anything like the live-action film "Cinderella" then we are all in for an nice treat.

Cinderella: Live-Action Film

Hello Disney Freaks!

If you didn't already know, Cinderella came to theater's this Friday! I personally was very lucky to have seen it at Downtown Disney on opening day, and let me just say...WOW! 

This movie was absolutely magical. Of course, being a Disney movie I expected it to be good, but let me tell you that it went well beyond my expectations. Everything about the movie was magical, and everything was displayed in such a way that the story felt real and relate able to life. The movies' messages were undoubtedly the strongest messages I have ever seen, and the movie left me with a lasting smile marking my face and the presence of magic in my heart.

The charming prince played by Richard Madden and the grace and kindness of Cinderella played by Lily James was obviously a huge part of my new-found love for the Cinderella story, but they weren't the only ones to make the film so wonderful. The fairy Godmother (Helena Bonham Carter) and Lady Tremaine (Cate Blanchett) were astounding actresses and I know the entire audience fell in love with the love of Cinderella's mother and father and the loyalty of Cinderella's friends... and I'm certain you will too.

        

If you haven't seen the film yet, make sure that you do. I'm sure it will fill you will magic and a renewed respect for Walt Disney Productions.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit

If you haven't been to Disney's California Adventures lately, or you merely haven't noticed, there has been a new character roaming around Buena Vista Street. 

Resembling the looks of Mickey Mouse but with longer ears, Oswald was one of Walt Disney's first successful animated creations.

In the 1920's, Universal Studios wanted a new cartoon character; a rabbit. Charles Mintz, Disney's film distributor at the time, suggested that Walt complete the task of creating a lovable character named Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. On September 5, 1927, Oswald starred in his first short film, "Trolley Troubles." Oswald later went on to star in 26  animated short films and generate the first ever sold merchandise for Walt Disney. To Walt's dismay, however, he later found that Mintz and Universal Studios owned the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Upset at their possession of his beloved creation and multiple other unfair factors on the part of Mintz, he gave up his rights to Oswald and created a much more beloved character that he would never let any other company get their hands on... MICKEY MOUSE!!!

In 2006, the Disney Company won back the rights to Oswald when they traded sportscaster Al Michaels from ABC and ESPN to NBC Universal. Disney acquired full rights to Oswald's 26 short black and white films as well and began selling Oswald merchandise in 2007. Oswald is also featured in Disney's game "Epic Mickey" and is now a meet and greet character inside Disney's California Adventure. 

In the end, Disney's experience with the greed of the film industry taught him a valuable life lesson and led on to the world famous Disney Characters we know today, starting with Mickey Mouse himself. 

Big Hero 6: Oscar winning anamated film

Congratulations to Big Hero 6 for winning "Best Animated Film" at the Oscars Sunday night!

Released in theaters November 7 of 2014, Big Hero 6 took both the box office and the Oscars by storm. As happy as I am about the win for Big Hero 6,  I am also overjoyed that Disney  won a second Oscar for "Best Animated Short Film" for the making of Feast!

The animated short is a cute love story from the perspective and view of a Boston Terrior puppy named Winston. The short proceeds the film Big Hero 6, making its success a two way win.

If you haven't seen the film yet, make sure to see it when you next get the chance!

It's a great film and it's not worth missing out on.

Star Wars Weekends: Disney World Resort

Hello fellow Disney Freaks...or should I say STAR WARS FREAKS!

If you plan on visiting Disney World between May 15 and June 14, you are in luck!
